I bought a dust collection boot from FoxAlien but before I could use it I needed to create an adapter to connect it to the shop vac hose.

Quickly modelled two circles and a few offset steps with a loft, slightly tapered on both sides to make it easy to connect:

Installation on the CNC was easy and then I was ready to start cutting again:

A few days later, while CNCing alot, the shop vac ran off and on for 10 hours probably. This turned out to be the end…it melted down filling the garage with the awful smell of burn electric wires and plastic.

On the plus side it didn’t burn down the garage…and I got a reason to buy a new one with a dust separator attachment.

And if you look closely above the rope and bungee holding the hose temporarily there’s a new smoke detector!

After a full day of use and cleaning the entire garage there was no dust/wood chips in the vacuum the bucket separator caught it all…very nice:
