This is the prototype design for baby shower give-a-way drink coasters before I committed to building 40 of them. This was another opportunity to practice the fusion 360 modelling, CNCing, letter engraving and first time using Milliput (an epoxy alternative).
Design was fairly simple and was cut out of some maple:
I used the miter saw and jigsaw to cut the design out of the stock, sanded a little bit and started to fill in the design using Milliput. Milliput comes as putty in two separate tubes, one colored epoxy and one hardener. It was very easy to mix, kneading like dough until all the streaks were gone. Then it was packed in to the letters.
After curing overnight the putty was hard and could be sanded. This shot is mid-sand:
