The ice auger gave out a couple weeks ago and would no longer dispense ice. The motor did sound like it was working but something within the gearbox had stripped/failed. It was cheap enough to replace the whole unit.
Removal was easy and didn’t require any YouTubing – 4 screws on top after the ice bucket was removed allowing me to pull the assembly out. Once pulled out far enough I could reach and disconnect the power cable.
I ordered the new auger motor from https://www.genuinereplacementparts.com/ (not sponsored). Since I was in the fridge I also found the water and air filter replacements and ordered those from Amazon. Fridge model number for future use:
A few days later the new motor arrived but it was missing the portion of the shaft that sticks out to mate with the ice tray.
I realized that an allen wrench would fit perfectly, just had to be cut to size:
After trying a few different means to cut it I finally got through it with the dremel:
Final installation and it was back in commission:
